Re: Tools and Toolrolls
As an update to the rusting of my tools, I had coated them with boiled linseed oil in August last year, and have checked them just recently, after a damp winter in the garage.
I am very pleased to say that they are in perfect condition so job done. In the end I ditched the silica gel sachet idea ...

Re: Tools and Toolrolls
Thanks for all the replies and good advice. In the end, after wirebrushing the tools, I coated them in boiled linseed oil and added a couple of silica gel sachets to the tool boxes just for good measure. We will see if that sorts things out.

Tools and Toolrolls
Hi all,
Like most of the riders on this forum I carry a selection of tools in two toolrolls, one in each of the toolboxes. My problem is that given most of the tools are "black, i.e. not plated" they invariably get very rusty during the course of the year, I assume due to condensation. The ...

Re: What tank was this originally?
Thank you Paul. As you say it looks correct from above, it was something I hadn't noticed before hence my question.

What tank was this originally?
Hi all,
I have attached two photos of the underside of my W/NG tank, and am wondering if this is in fact an original W/NG tank or from another model. Does the Pat No. 215567 prove anything i.e date, model etc. If you look carefully you will see a hole in the centre which is blanked off! Correct or ...

Re: On the subject of Greasing points and Nipples
Of course you are quite correct Bob, and I would never advocate using the wrong thread type on anything structural. You could regard the nipples certainly as non structural and therefore in the absence of the right nipple the metric will fit well enough especially as there are only possibly a ...

Re: On the subject of Greasing points and Nipples
Incidentally an M6 x1 grease nipple is a practical alternative having the same TPI as 1/4" BSF and only slightly smaller O/D if BSF are not available.

On the subject of Greasing points and Nipples
Hi all
On the subject of greasing points and nipples and I hope this might help some others in the future. This applies to my 1942 W/NG but may well be similar to others. Notwithstanding the fact that Zerk nipples would have been standard fitment I have decided to change mine for the "bull nose ...

Re: Brake Back Plate
Hi Guys,
All very interesting, so perhaps I have the wrong back plate (i.e. for a plunger) but if I bush the centre hole down to 0.750" that should allow me to use the Draganfly back plate nut in the correct position for a rigid back plate. Also explains why it looks factory and not machined out ...
