Hello Paul,
5008 looks good.
I did send Bram a email this morning.
I'll see what he can tell me.
Was the paint you used a two pack (2K) ?

Hello Vincent,
No I used 1k paint and the fumes where very agressive due to its tinner base!
They said to some extend their paint is petrol resistant, however I do not believe that for sure. I guess only 2pack does the job in that respect.
All in all I'am quite satisfied about the result, its a war bike it should not to be to clean and smooth in its appearance...
Regards, Paul

Re: Color code for RAF color ?
Paul,, Trimite just advised me ral 7016, hmmmmm very grey.
It's called anthraciet grey, I dont think that's good.
ral 5008 is best I think.
If the paint from Bram is a 1K I am not going to buy it, I'd like the paint to stay where I put it.
This ethanol zooi takes it of otherwise.
Build a spray booth this week and bought a condom overall and a paint fumes mask.
Wil send a action picture later......for now this static shot.

Two links to compare colors, but it remains difficult to judge them on a screen

Re: Color code for RAF color ?
Hi Vincent,
I like the blue/grey. but I haven't seen enough of the original colour to be sure which is more correct.
I recently painted a bike grey. The problem I had is that many of the greys I tried changed colour in the sunshine! The colour I chose was called "machinery grey". It looked pretty boring on the colour charts - not unlike the anthricite grey - and on the screen, but in the sunshine it had a definite purple glow. Presumably there was a pigment in the paint that emitted purple light when illuminated with UV in sunlight.
Cheers
Leon

Thanks Leon.
Found these W/NG's on the net.
Looks like it's the ral 5008
The car also but more matt. Until now I have not seen RAF census numbers on period RAF W/NG pictures that start with the letter 'C'
(as on the pics above)
Most of them start with a 1 , 5 , 8 and most of them with a 9 (when they start with a 1 it's seven digits, 5, 8,and 9 have 6 digits)
going for the diamond anorak......
