Armours mudguards

Post by stu.sharratt »

Evening all

Any experience of Armours mudguards?
They have front 5"mc9f & rear 6"mc10r ribbed guards listed, £50 each, which may do a job on my '51 VH.
I have the originals but they are really bad !

cheers

Hi Stu,
I bought a 6" ribbed from Armours for my 1950 VH. I had to do a fair bit of fettling to make it look right, but unless you are an expert you'd not know the difference. In other words it looks really ok. I'm probably going to end up doing the same for my 1951 NH, but the two guards are distinctly different in a number of respects, particularly the latter types which are no longer hinged and require the welded on lugs. I am on the waiting list at Drags but then at the rate things are going I don't hold out much hope of getting the guard before 2020!!

For both, types it is necessary to make a cut out to clear the chain guard. If you look under members bikes, my 1950 VH, you can see what the rear guard looks like. No, I still haven't got the bike on the road - just waiting for some decent dry weather to coincide with sufficient spare time to finish the job off.
