The Beast lives
The Beast lives
Well every cloud even very black one as they say as a silver lining,
stuck in due to lock down I dragged the NG out of it's corner, it's
been there since I bought it and had sat in a shed for 30 years before
that and after a few hours the beast lives, a bit to do but hopefully
will be ready for the road by the time we get released.
Sounds like a canal boat engine.

Semi-Diesels (Hot Bulb Engines) - e.g. the Bolinder single cylinder.alan.moore wrote:Well done.

Nowadays they are modern diesels of course .

Just on with getting it charging that's today's job,
one thing I am wondering about is this stuff ok for the gearbox?
MILLERS OILS DELTA 000EP. SEMI FLUID LITHIUM GREASE
as I have a tub or two, it's the EP bit in the name that
makes me wounder.

Re: The Beast lives
HI if the old EP oil and not GL5 it is ok and will not attack the gearbox bearings and bushes but GL5 WILL I use EP90 GL4 or GL3 in my old gearboxes
Re: The Beast lives
Thanks for that, this is a fluid grease supposedly non corrosive but I don't know a lot about it,
this is the stuff.

Re: The Beast lives
Well the dynamo now lights a bulb on a slightly raised tick over but still no charge
so a look at the regulator box is tomorrows challenge, it's a first kick starter but
now it's run a bit it has more compression than I expected and the last few singles
I have had were Velows so I am used to kicking over a high comp single.

I've just spent a few minutes reading about Bolinder engines. Strikes me that we have it easy starting and running our Ariels!Bob.Murphy wrote:Semi-Diesels (Hot Bulb Engines) - e.g. the Bolinder single cylinder.alan.moore wrote:Well done.
