Hi,
I am rebuilding 1956 red hunter , can you tell me please if there is a spacer that goes in-between the back mudguard stay the one that the rear top s shocks
bolts goes throw into the mudguard stay, there is about 1/4 inche gap

No there is no 'spacer' but there is a 'space', you need three nuts on each bolt, the first nut clamps up the top of the shock absorber then two nuts either side of the mudguard bridge bracket, the bolt should be long enough to do this, if not then you are possibly using the lower shock absorber bolt which is much shorter.
