Huntmaster "Chopper" now up for sale

Post by Davidmeachen »

Hi Guys, well this is indeed a sad day for me as I have no other option other than to offer up for sale my much loved "Chopper". I thought I would offer it first to you guys as you know how to look after these old, classic bikes and I'm sure it would then go to a good home.
For those who have followed my bloggs over the past two-and-a-half years you will know of the history of this particular bike but for those who may not have read my bloggs here is a brief history.
Bought from a former AOMCC member in Feb 2012 and told it was ready for the road; it wasn't. It took quite a while to get it registered and it needed work to get it through the MOT.
After getting it on the road I took it for a run to Llandovery (about 30 miles away). An uneventful ride there but calamity on the return journey when the engine seized. That lead to: crankshaft re-grind, new main-bearings, new big-end bearings, new con-rods, new piston rings and complete engine re-build. Since then there have only been minor probs such as blown head-gasket, electrical probs (solved by fitting new DVR2 regulator and a new battery. The latest problem was the timing had slipped, now re-timed and running perfectly.
I ride the bike every day and it always puts a big smile on my face.
If I were to keep the bike there is work that needs doing. It needs a headlight lens; needs brake light wired up (rear light is fine), centre-stand needs replacing (piece missing and held in place by 'Bungy cord'); dent in petrol tank needs attention. I would have also stripped the bike down over the winter and re-sprayed everything but thats up to whoever buys the bike.
I have a good idea of what this bike would bring if I broke it down for spares but would much prefer to sell it as a whole, running, fun-to-ride, chopper
If anyone is interested in buying my bike then please pm me and I'll answer any questions and email current pics and discuss price as I am open to offers.
I will be very sad to say goodbye to my Ariel and to this owners club and if I had any other option I would not be selling my much loved bike.
Bike is 1955 Huntmaster 650. Original engine, gearbox and frame (frame cut and modified). I have the relevant docs. There are photo's of the bike on the forum
Keep safe you guys
Regards
Dave :(
