NH350 Red Hunter 1948/49

Post by JohnReilly »

Good day
My friend has the above bike and it needs the ignition timing set after the mag rebuild, I would like advice on the degrees before TDC for the firing.
The book he has says 1/2" advance which I take to be measured through the plug hole. I find that hard to get exactly in position and therefore seek the exact degree.
On another topic, the inlet valve tappet clearance is specified at 0.00" and exhaust at 0.002". being not familiar with the model I find it hard not to have some little inlet tappet clearance. comments welcome.
regards
John

35 degrees with max advance. Zero on the inlet is fine as it opens more as the engine warms.. Nev
