DVLA

Hi from a new member, I wonder if anyone can give me any insight to registering my recently acquired bike.
I’ve bought a 1958 square four that was registered with Essex county council back in the depths of time but has never been registered with the DVLA, who don’t have any records of the registration number
I have the original buff logbook, the purchase receipt from 1965 and various receipts all showing the Registration number of the plates on the bike. Draganfly are providing a dating certificate for the bike, but have doubts that DVLA will register it on the original number.
Are there any tactics that will increase the chances of retaining the number plate it has now?
Many thanks
Doug

My understanding is that as long as you have some authentic documentation linking the registration number to the actual machine components (frame number in particular) getting the registration assigned and new docs from the DVLA is relatively straightforward.
See the guidance 'Applying for retention of original registration number' here:

The buff log-book should be fine for this, I wouldn't have thought you'd need anything more - however Essex local authority records might also be available, the Kithead Trust website suggests records for 1904-1975 are still archived.

As Simon says, if the RF60 is present and matches the frame number for the bike, I don't think retaining the original number will be a problem.

Feel free to mail me on the address below & I'll help out.
cheers
