What 12 volt negative earth voltage regulator options are out there? I know of the DVR2, but it's about $100 by the time it gets to me (for comparison I spent $300 on my car which probably says more about me than the value of $100 ). A PODtronics voltage regulator used to be available in the USA but they seem to only producing regulators for alternators these days. Draganfly have some regulators but voltage is not listed. Feked have voltage regulators for about 30 GBP, but no 12 volt negative earth. Anyone know of any more?
Except for the DVR2 all 12v negative earth regulators are for alternators and not compatible with a Lucas dynamo.

I have used several and never had a problem, the manufacturer claims to have never had a faulty one. I do not have any experience of the cheaper ones they have ELE-28-6V, ELE-29-6V and ELE-29

i use an AO services regulator on my NH , a Vreg2b , you need to tell him if you want negative or positive earth , the unit is for 6v or 12volt but for 12volt you just need to cut the small green loop that sticks out and seal its ends with silicone or epoxy glue although a couple of small bits of glue filled shrink tube would also do the job .
price here is £56 including vat and delivery in uk but if you are outside of uk just e mail Al using the e mail address in the CONTACT page and note you have to change the # for @ , he will then reply and sort things out with you if there is any need ..
the AO services regulator easily fits inside the mcr2 regulator box if you still want to retain its looks , and can be bolted to one of the old bits of metal plates used to hold the coils in place inside the stripped out regulator , its only about 50x50x20mm in size , the wire colour coding is same as mostly used for dynamo wiring .
these particular regulators draw extremely little residual current in the sensing circuit , its is something like less than .015ma and so your battery wont go flat even if its left for many many months without charging , i have had my NH parked up for months unused and the battery is still ok and the headlight and horn still work .
i normally park it up over the winter for 3 months or more and the battery stays up but this year because i had to have chemotherapy etc it has been parked up longer and the battery is still up and didnt need charging .
i previously had a wassell voltage regulator and that drew 60ma of residual current and would flatten the battery in around 3 1/2 days , so i changed to the AO services regulator and it is a complete contrast with no more flat battery .
both regulators worked with the dynamo but the wassell one is now somewhere in the recycling system .
i have a DVR2 regulator in my AJS mod30 which is also a good regulator but as you say they are a bit more expensive and are slightly bigger than the AO services regulator .
Hello Shawn, these regulators (made in Holland) are 6 and 12 volts negative or positve earth on demand. I use them now for quite some time and they are working flawless. 49,50 euro ex. shipping.

No preference from me. I use both, and both are fine after around 5 years. They are fairly numb things and I cannot envisage much to go wrong on either. The current draw on each may be a factor for you.
