RPD gearbox speedo drive

Post by MarttiLaaksonen »

Hi everyone, I am in a process to find a solution for speedo gear to the RPD's layshaft''s end and a speedo drive fitting to that . I know there are reparation kits for Q box but that does not fit to a lot smaller RPD box. There are two prelimany plans. One is to cut from Q layshaft the speedo gear and assemble that to RPD layshaft's end and continue the process with Q-parts to the speedometer. The other is to design a rep kit to the end of RPD layshaft (originally 9 gears) with 10 gears which will use the Q parts to the speedometer. I find here many experienced Ariel guys who possible have a word to say to those plans. My bike is L2F31 with inclined barrel. I have also a LB30 which has a similar RPD box taken from an LF. I have some extra parts for these bikes, barrel, head, etc, I also know also one LF 31 frame which is on sale. Pls comment marttieinarilaaksonen@gmail.com

New topic created - Martti's post was previously under John Lay's topic '1930 LF' but I think it's more suitable (and might get more responses) if it's a new thread....
