conclusion telescopic fork bushes

Hi is there any downside to using the later longer top bush on telescopic forks.If not why cut them down. 1954 square 4 mk 2. Any thoughts appreciated.

1954 should have the long stanchions. Long bushes with short stanchions will reduce the amount of movement in the forks.
