Ariel initially recommended 25 to 1 but in later information recommended 32 to 1 of some oils. I've used 32 to 1 in my standard Leader of any of the major oil makes ie. Castrol, Putaline etc. I find semi synthetic gives less smoke and is not too expensive. .Brian H ps the engine has done 17,000 miles since last rebore and still has good compression.

I use a modern synthetic oil at a nominal 32:1 in my Arrow with no problems and without excessive smoke. I say nominal as I measure 300 ml and add 10 litres of fuel, but there is always some oil left in the measuring bottle.

Modern oils for 2 strokes don't smoke or carbon up as much but some MUST be better than others. Mixants and formulations change and most ordinary engine oils lower the octane rating and some additives may short out Plugs when they get on jnsulators. Don't use TCW3 as it's only for Outboards. Nev
