'58 NH front wheel question

Hi all, I have a little problem on my 1958 NH project. After loosening the brake adjuster on each brakeplate, I attempted to remove the brakeplates
from the hubs in order to clean everything up and check the bearings. The rear brakeplate came off instantly, the front however just goes around as if the spacer is stuck in the bearing. Is this possible? I have never worked on these later alloy hubs, and I can't see what the problem is otherwise. Should I be attempting to tap the spacer from the other end?
Thnaks, Tony.

That spacer is quite a tight fit in the brake plate - try a bit of WD40 or a bit of heat.

I was in exactly your position about 6 months ago!
