VIM weekend 2025

Post by Vincent.vanGinneke »

Last weekend we had the VIM (Vereniging Interessante Motorrijwielen) weekend.

a few pics.
I did not take many, the ride out was with the 'follow up' system, so I could get a few of them 'on the move'
Nice BBQ on the saterday eve and the weather was good.
Only a little rain during the Sunday ride.

Not a Ariel but a Matchless G80 with a ABSAF engine fitted.
A engine that you never have to touch with a spanner, ever.
Made by Jan de Jong in the Netherlands.

It was a bit to fast for us just pottering around.... :D

Interesting ABSAF motor, what sort of BHP does the 500cc version produce?
I had a 1959 AJS model 16 (Sceptre) that produced 16bhp, supposedly. The 500 model was rated at 18bhp.
I put a 500 top-end on my bike, it made a deeper note but still wouldn't keep up with the traffic!

I did not ask, but I would not be surprised if it punched out somewhere between 45/55 HP
