Accuspark on the Square Four

It's time for a new adventure - I'm searching for silky smoothness, easy starting and less rattles on the Mark 1. Actually I already have easy starting so I suppose part of this is just curiosity.

I have a positive earth Accuspark system for the distributor and I shall be fitting it over the coming days but first a question!

Does anybody know why Accuspark supply 3 different sleeves to go over the distributor cam?

The first problem to overcome is that I ordered the positive earth kit. My 4, like all my bikes is negative earth. Sometimes I wonder how I get out of bed in the morning.

I have one of these bin my mk11 , the base plate fouls the auto advance, I had to relieve it to allow the auto advance to work. I have three sleeves I used the one that fitted most snug.

I tried a Thorspark, which worked well. It also came with a choice of trigger rotors. Apparently it's because Lucas distributor cams are not all the same shape. They are all square of course, but some have sharper corners. Pick the one that fits best. It must not be loose.
Unless you have some modern electronic devices on your bike; swapping the battery terminals over will only require swapping the ammeter terminals, otherwise it will read backwards.
The ignition coil terminals should also be swapped over, in order to maintain a negative voltage at the spark plug. Cheers, Chris.
PS. It won't cure a single rattle.

Yesterday I tried to help my friend Gerd on his 1958 Mk2 checking the ignition timing. After lifting the distributer cap we saw the very same electronic system. We were unsure how to set/check that actually. With points the timing can be adjusted with the use of a simple light bulb. How do you set this electronic system?

I set ut up with points then leave distributor and replace base plate with electronic unit.
