Hi I have a 1964 Ariel leader Ftd37b looking for some advice if bike is under load going uphill it jumps out of third gear the gear box feels a bit sloppy between gear changes any advice appreciated.

It will likely be the dogs on the gear or possibly the positive stop. Whatever it is you will probably have to take it apart to fix it so why not take it apart to find out what is wrong. There are only a couple of faults on gearboxes but a myriad of causes. Luckily virtually all parts are available and the boxes are very robust.
