I am helping an old guy to restore his 1934 250cc LH and we are having problems figuring out how the oil pressure gauge feed pipe is connected to the oil relief valve. The bottom end of the pipe has a swaged end with a loose, male threaded fitting. The bike had been used and abused when he obtained it and the relief valve had been plugged , possibly because of a leak in the pipe. The problem is that the thread in the valve is larger than the fitting on the pipe. Can anyone confirm that the relief valve is where the feed is taken from and if so, how is the connection made?

I am pretty sure that the lower oil gauge pipe threads into a hole in the gear case and does not connect directly to the pressure regulator (not a relief valve). You will find both the owner's guide and parts book invaluable, they are available free to members on the club website or commercially.
