Something grubby mistaken for a WNG 4sale in the Netherlands

Post by Vincent.vanGinneke »

-No Connection -

Ariel 1945 WNG 350cc OHV great patina time original piece.
Ariel WNG 350cc 1945 ex world war 2 machine but modernised after the war with plunger rear suspension and telescopic supsension in the front.
The Ariel runs and shifts. Price 4950€

well....Beauty is in the eye of the beholder
for sale at Dutch Lion Motors.
Teutonic couch and indicators.
Looks to have a original Dutch licence, .
For almost 5K euro it's not realistic to go and try to restore it into it's former glory.
So perhaps someone might get smitten by it's looks and like it the way it is

Moreover, the engine, and possibly the centre part of the frame is not from a "ex world war 2 machine" but from a postwar october 1945 NG.
Sorry mates, not eligible for those popular reanactment parties.
Frame can / should be AP coded .

The grubby one should have an AP frame, despatched to Netherlands' relief in October 1945 so a 1946 model. An 'interesting' plunger conversion.
The shiny one has a valuable pre 1939 outer chain case, a bit of extra chrome, the front wheel smells of BSA and what about the horn Vincent?

one motorcycle should be enough for a person to be happy, but I'm probably sick, I'm still looking for new and new pieces that I want to buy for my garage. :D :D :D

Ehhhh, 317...

According to the late Ralph Hawkins over 400 '45 model NG went to the Netherlands.
They where ordered by the Dutch Government organisation N.O.R.R. during the last stages of the 2ndWW.
- Netherlands Organistaion for Relief and Rehabilitation -
If you see a AP coded frame that has the looks of a WNG but no field stand lug in the Netherlands, it's very likely to be one of those 400+ NG's .
