how much oil for a 1951 vh 500 telescopic fork

good morning, as I have to rebuild the telescopic fork of my 1951 ariel vh500, before ordering spare parts I would like to know how much sae 30 oil I have to put in each stanchion

I can't remember but it is done using a dipstick, I look it up in an owner's guide or manual both available free on the club's website to members or can be purchased from the usual outlets.

From BSA Service Sheet 216 - 7.5floz (213cc) of SAE30.

Paolo,the dipstick measurement is 43cm to 46cm measured from the face of the top bracket,bike upright and unladen

You might not want to bother but I fit a small drain screw to the bottom of each fork so it can be drained easily and I use a non frothing Hydraulic oil (tractor Universal transmission) and a heavier grade than 30 SAE to make the damping a bit more effective. Nev
