KH500 oil pressure relief valve removal

Please could anyone advise whether the hexagon headed oil pressure relief valve body on the end of the crankshaft is a right hand thread.
I have placed a socket on the nut and exerted an anticlockwise force whilst sitting on the engaged kick start which does not loosen the nut.
How can I lock the crank shaft sufficiently to undo the valve body nut?
I am still suffering from different oil pressures on different short rides so wish to check the oil pressure relief valve.
Thanks, Eddie Lloyd

Hi Eddie,

It is a right hand thread, but I have never seen one with a hex head, they are usually slotted for a screwdriver.

My (rough) method is to put an adjustable spanner on the drive side splines and use that to lock the crank. If it’s stupid and it works it’s not stupid!

Is there a visible hole in the end? I am wondering if someone has blocked off your oil pressure relief valve hole completely.

For what it's worth the parts list shows a hexagon head on the pressure
relief valve. I looked because I've never seen one either and there it was.
