When I dismantled my 1960 Ariel Arrow for restoration I discovered that the forward section of the rear mudguard had been replaced by a piece of mudguard of unknown origin. Unfortunately whoever fitted it had not really understood what he/she was doing and fitted it by bolting it through a hole in the rear section of mudguard and bolting the other end to the swinging arm!
It must have been diabolical to ride. What actually occurred was the rear mudguard section was bent up where the rear mudguard section meets the frame. I need to straighten it back to the original shape but am having difficulty finding photographs to give me an idea of exactly what shape it should be i.e. I know that rearwards from the seat retaining spring the mudguard assembly slopes upwards a little but need a picture to see by how much.
Would anybody be kind enough to take some photographs for me especially from the side?
Request for rear mudguard information.
