Front mudguard

Hello all, I am in the process of rebuilding and assembling my '56 Square 4, the PO had cut down the mudguards presumably as a "go faster" measure and in the name of 70's fashion which is the last time the bike was used. What remains is in good condition so I intend to rebuild it. As it has been shortened I need someone with a similar mudguard to give me the measurement from the fork bracket holes to the front tip of the mudguard, a close up photo of the front section would also be helpful so I can try to get it right. Many thanks in anticipation, Brian.

Hi

My 58 FH mudguard measures 21 - 5/8" from the center line of the bridge bolts to the farthest point forward.

Absolutely perfect Mick, exactly what I needed to know. Thank you. Mine is 2" short, obviously would have made it go much faster in the day. Now I can get the English wheel out and roll a section.

How wide is your mudguard Mick? I have an A10 mudguard in my 'kit', which is more wide and square than the Ariel one.

I'm tempted to slim it down. The Ariel one is so much more elegant.

Hi Simes

The width of my mudguard between the outer edges of the beads is 5 - 5/16"
