350 NH

Hello all, greetings from Uganda.
I have recently aquired a fleet of classics all in varying state of disrepair and abuse (ARIEL/BSA/AJS/MATCHLESS).
The most complete of the lot is what appeared to be a 1955 500cc Single - I say appeared as my assumption was based on the log book - all the others are 350.
The log book indicates the frame number as DU - putting it at 1955 - 1st registered in 1958 manufactured 1957 - engine number LL - which when looked up is not mentioned

However doing some strip down / clean yesterday I found the engine number AMA 2--- with NH embossed on the right hand side - so its now a 350 in a (i think) 500 frame.

Some questions to the forum if I may
- is was there a difference in the frame for the 500 and 350
- is there a difference in the frame for the Hunter and the Trials
I am having thoughts to during the rebuild perhaps convert her from a road to a trials (as this resolves my lack of electrical skill - and the better application to our roads)

Regards
Cymon

Hello Cymon,
there is no differends between a 350, 500 or 650 frame.
There is a big differends to a trials frame (much lighter).
Always build as standard as possible, it will bring the most when selling.

You could go to HS scrambles.
I don't know what electrical skills you need for 5 wires.

A photo would help to identify the head and barrel.

Thanks Adrie,
Had a change of heart yesterday afternoon when i found a pack of new goodies (guages and cables) that would not have to be bought - thus extending my budget.
will take a photo tonight of the head / barrel and send it on
