No problem. If you look at the horseshoe and the Regd Design with the white centre it is obvious that with them being on a white background it would be easy for a manufacturer to fail to notice the white centre unless it was made clear to them. That is what happened to the Ariel Club many years ago when Dick Henry got some made. The original Club ones had the white centre but the ones Dick got back didn't. No-one noticed until people started using them. That may well have happened to Ariel.
The strangest anomaly with transfers I have seen was on the bicycle chaincases in 1923. Someone at the factory must have found a box of old transfers from 1903, 1904 and 1909 so they just used them up on the 1923 bikes, making it easy to wrongly date the bike. The bike in this picture is circa 1923 with a 1909 transfer.
