Aye, but as Vincent suggests, they've probably stopped making "us" as well! "Us" being the strange folk who understand and like these funny old contraptions enough to actually ride them, and maintain and mend them, and put up with oil-leaks and inconvenient non-functions, and awful brakes, arcane starting rituals,-----still, we love 'em---- although we are a dying breed.
Rubbish! you may say, but did you know, there most boys out there on bicycles can't mend a puncture, they get someone to take the bicycle to a shop to get fixed!

Guilty as charged but I have other reasons. Higher prices benefit all Ariel owners. It shows there's an interest in the bikes which means that more will be restored rather than parted out or junked. It means that repro parts will become more available and that rare parts are more likely to be reproduced. Would people be more comfortable with a declining price?

Beg to differ.
Higher prices mean more "buying to invest", which means less bikes on the road, which means less bikes being actually used, which means less parts wearing out, which means less being made.... eventually, all the ariels are stuffed in garages in vacuum bags.
If I had a £12k bike that I had bought to "appreciate in value", then you can bet it wouldn't be going anywhere that often.
Mind you, I ride my all year round and am not exactly one for cleaning ..

It's an argument where the result will not be in for another generation (25- 30 years). By then, likely both Bruce and I will be too old to care ....
Although, should this forum be still here, and I'm right then I'll be the first with a "I told you so" post ....
