You'll get it going Pete. Check out Draganflys website. You should be able to download a workshop manual that will help you get the bike timed up.

Maybe the engine was timed on the wrong stroke! I undo the cam sprocket and leave the mag one done up, get the engine in the correct place turn the mag till points just opening then do up the cam sprocket. It's easier this way round than doing it from the mag.

Checked timing again seems to be correct so not sure what to do now ,on the up side got the lights wired up a triumph in its self being as I'm colour blind ,so going to leave it for couple of days let frustration subside then try again, must be something obvious I'm missing..

The valves are definitely both closed when the points open?

Yep both valves closed and big fat spark , I won't give up with the advice from you guys it will run .

Well if it's timed correctly and you have a good spark then it has too be the carb! Spitting back you say? So flooding!

My W/NG does that occasionally - the float needle sticks and the carb overflows. Switch the fuel off, open the choke, open the throttle quite a bit, kick and off it goes.

It's not happening frequently enough for me to take the bike off the road and have a look, and once the engine is running (and vibrating) the float needle settles into place and works perfectly.
