If some of you fella's /ladies want a slightly long trip from south to north (Adelaide to Darwin about 4,000 kms) in a years time a group of us ( from the ones that did Perth Sydney 18 months ago) are going plus others who are interested. The aim is up to 1918 OR some feeble later vintage at a pinch. Cars and bikes (Outfits too). Not a race, Bit over 200 kms average each day. It's only one way. Nev

Nev, I would love to go, but I only have modern bikes. It'll be an awesome ride. I've done it at 65kph several times, behind a solar car.
The pubs and communities - places like Aileron and Barrow Creek, abandoned WW2 Airfields, the bats at Mataranka and the eagles eating carrion make for unforgettable memories. One year we got caught driving at just dark. The roos were so thick, we could only drive at a fast walk. One jumped between the car and trailer.
If anyone was considering a 'ride of a lifetime' journey, this one would be worth considering.

All packed now and ready to go in the morning. So much luggage and so little bike...

it's not as bad as it looks. The bag on the handlebars and the higher stuff on the carrier is just sleeping mats and so on. Light but bulky.
The duffel bag is genuine WW2 - belonged to my uncle.
The real weight is in those panniers..
The bike is running really well Paul. It always starts first kick and is coping well with the taller gearing.

Like this, in the box are 150 "Unox" wooly gluvs and caps for the (cold ) "Iron horse rally", and Nico is getting his famus "Joep Meloen" picture machine ready.
