The centre stand shown in the last picture looks quite different from others I've
seen and looks to be an excellent way to get thoroughly stuck on rocks and
tree roots.

The ones I've seen all pivot higher up and are marked curved to fit under the
footrest with the feet set side-to-side and not rearwards as here. The arrangement
with the curve to go under the footrest and the stop up between the plates makes
for a much smoother profile under the crankcase, far less likely to get caught.

That last picture was from the 'restored' XOB440 bike.
This one is a period pic, but does not show how it would look up.

The mock-up.
From here the first move is a visit to the RDW to get it 'viewed'.
If all is ok the frame gets a ticket attached that has to stay on it until I come back with the finished Ariel
(many years later ofcourse....) for the licence....

Looking good Vincent, but why you want to show it to the RDW?

A HT model with its special frame was never imported in the Netherlands.
for instance, a HS is basically a 'standard' swingarmframe, a HT is something else.
Also the frame number only has 3 digits, formally a Dutch licence has 4 digits, the 'Meldcode' .
So I have a DOVE form from the Fehac and together with a very elaborate dating certificate from the AOMCC I hope to get the 'go ahead' from the RDW.

Ok.
3 Digits on its own is no problem for the RDW as they put a 0 before the other digits. I once did have a project with frame number YXXX which became YOXXX… as far as I know the only thing the RDW is curious/interested about is 1) frame number VIN, 2) year of vintage and if its 3) exported to a certain EU country, 4) and a invoice from the person you bought it from?

Hmmm, I dont want them to stamp anything in this original frame.
Or do you mean the '0' is only added on paper?

Yes on the paper.
