Most Makes are tension wire to advance. Rudges can be the exception.. I use Points open (Cigarette paper moves) at FULL advance is 35 Degrees Before TDC on a dial. Get TDC more precisely by taking the Piston a fixed distance accurately say 1" both ways and bisect the two positions. You need full advance when you are revving it out or the Pipe will show Blue.
