IF you really get stuck with any of these types of bearings you can machine a suitable size sleeve, in mild steel. Put a Cut through both sides acccurately at the 1/2 way mark. Check the crush in the rod and get it exactly what you want or a bit More. Tin and Whitemetal it. check crush again and bore the Babbit metal to size on a conrod borer, Mill or Lathe. For best bearing life limit the thickness of the Babbit to about 10 thou. thick That means a very accurate setting up. Scribe lines at the metal join line Punch in the bits that stop it turning at some stage before metalling and boring. Very fine feed and light cut on the last pass Fine point on a HSS bit is fine. A well deserved pat on the back for you when you finish. Nev
