The factory despatch records held by the AOMCC. They show you the original engine and gearbox numbers against the frame number along with any peculiarities (special colours etc.) the bike was ordered with, along with the dealer who ordered it.

Ummmmmmm - in the interests of transparency, I think you can get the same factory info from Drags, or the VMCC, via the dating service offered by either.
(Although obviously in these parts we tend to point folks towards the AOMCC...)

Check the frame number. I think you have one digit incorrect.

Thanks Paul checked frame number but of v5 as bike in workshop so may be an error by dvla. Cheers Dave.

DVLA do make errors, as did their predecessors when Ariels were first registered. Persuading DVLA of such an error can be tricky but isn't impossible. You will need to look at the frame number on the bike itself as engine and frame numbers match, but for the one digit. The frame with the number you quoted went abroad which is why I think it is a matter of an incorrect number.
Should be a very nice bike, incidentally.
