1928 Mod A/B restoration help needed
Re: 1928 Mod A/B restoration help needed
There are a number of parts on the Ariel Klub Sk site that I would like to buy. I have seen a number of references to the site in other posts and it appears to be a good resource for early Ariel parts, both used and repro. Do I need to be a member of the Slovak Ariel Klub to purchase from them? The English translations can be a little difficult to decipher at times - if I have questions do I just email kajovtelefon@gmail.com? Would there be issues shipping to Canada?

I am not a member but have dealt with Karol a number of times. I have had no issues and shipping to Canada has been good. Not very long waiting times and well packed been very pleased.
Frank
ps just send him an email and you will get confirmation very quickly. I have primarily been after parts for my 1931/32 SB31 build. Not quite there yet but with a little luck I will finish it in this lifetime.

Thank you Frank. I will start to assemble a list make some enquiries. Good luck with the SB31. Being a similar age I too am hoping to beat the Reaper long enough for at least a maiden ride...

I was able to buy the '28 petrol/oil tank that was for sale on the Swedish auction site and referenced early in the replies to this post (Microsoft translate really needs upgrading
). It arrived a couple of days ago and whilst it was pretty expensive when all the extra costs were factored in I am really happy with it. It is solid and in great shape except for the usual early Ariel tank issue of some clumsy past pseudomechanic over tightening the attaching screws so they puncture the bottom of the tank. The rear two fixing sites have this problem, but that is easily fixed. I had a look inside with my endoscope inspection camera and it the whole inside is really clean and virtually rust free
. No signs of dents either. The oil dripper is in great shape also - hopefully works as well as it looks.

Looks like your making headway Ray.
looking forward to seeing the Ariel at the Paris Rally in the near future.
The 28 will also fit in nicely on our annual Girder Ride.
It was Good chatting with you at the rally Ray.

Hi Ian. Nice talking to you in Paris also. I'm not sure the 'near future' is in the cards for rallies or rides given how much is still to do with the Black Ariel. I may have a couple of other options for joining the Girder Ride though.

Could somebody tell me what is the difference between the '28 single (ie Model A/B; part number 1080-26) big end assembly and the '29 single big end (part number 1080-29) assembly? Will the later version fit the earlier model?

I'd think the 1929 one is drilled to feed the big end and the 1928 version isn't (as its total loss with no pressure feed to the big end). But that is by the by - the later 350 big end is what you want for a 28.
