From the rib on the steering head that's a 1954/55 plunger frame which would be a pretty rare thing. Pity it's been wrecked.
And what is it with turning a foot change into a hand change? These guys have clearly never spent any time with a hand change

The 1953 rigid frames shares the same rib on the steering head so it looks Ariel might have started some earlier with adding this rib.
