New member looking for machine info

Post by Norm Emerson »

Hi, I'm new to the club. I have a 1958 NH 350 with a 1954 VH 500 engine and am trying to find a manual and parts list so that I can check to see if what I have is right before I start the renovation. So far I have been unable to track the info. down on the forum. Perhaps I'm looking in the wrong place!
Can any one help please

You have to built it up as a 1958, than only the head and engine number are wrong.

If you are a member, owners hand book and parts books are held on the website in the members area.
If not a member Draganfly sell them.

I can't find a way to create a new topic. Also I tried looking in the members area and just found a list of members names. I must be worse at computers than I thought! Any help would be much appreciated thanks

Norm,
First, welcome to the Forum. To create a new topic go to near the top of this page and click on "Board Index". Click on a subject where you want to post. On that page you will see, written in red, "New Topic". Click on that and write your message with a title. You are a Forum member but to access the parts books etc. you must be an AOMCC member. Here is a link that should give you the joining info:

Welcome Norm
Three years a go I was in a similar position to you with a 1959 NH in parts and while i had loads of knowledge about Triumph and BSAs, I had none about Ariels. Now with the NH complete and a VB approaching completion I can recommend you to Draganfly, John Budgen and Seb McIver. They and the members here are all really friendly people who are very happy to give of their time and knowledge. The exploded views on Drags (draganfly's) site are a godsend as it shows you what is shown (and a list of what is not). Also when you go to the parts list below the exploded views and click on the item you want you generally get a photo of the part which is great when you are trying to sort out boxes of bits.

Ariel parts numbers are also a help as the last two digits reflect the date when they were introduced and as they had a policy of trying to use parts on as many bikes as possible, many parts were used on all the singles and on the twins for decades.

John Budgen is normally at Kempton autojumbles, close to the entrance. The next auto jumble is next week so if it is close to you and you need parts give John a call before hand so he can ensure he brings it.

Tell us where in the country you are and I am sure you will get lots of offers of help

Best of luck

Thanks Derek. I have used Draganfly befor and they are a great outfit.
I live in Northumberland on Alston Moor and am prity well isolated in the hills. It's a great place to be but not very handy for autojumbles and the like!
