2 inch finned exhaust clamp
2 inch finned exhaust clamp
Hello Ariel owners, hope all are well. Does anyone know where I can buy a new 2 inch finned exhaust clamp for a 1950 red hunter. I have tried all the sellers I know and no luck. Any help greatly appreciated!!

Re: 2 inch finned exhaust clamp
Thank you Johnny, I had checked Drags and they show all the parts but none in stock and even after months of back order no reply. Stainless "P" clamps for exhaust pipe as well.

Hi Johnny, Yes I had checked with John Budgen, he thought that perhaps i could get one from the club. I also heard that a company makes them for the Vincent owners club. I sent email to the company and no reply. I'll just keep plugging. Thanks again, stay well!!

Re: 2 inch finned exhaust clamp
Dave,
I had the same problem earlier this year trying to find a 2 inch finned exhaust clamp for my 48VH. Dranagfly have been out of stock for some time now and the only other supplier was Vincent specialists Conway Motors but the price they quoted made my eyes water. Luckily John Duckworth (of Rabbiting fame) had an inch and three-quarter one that came with a Huntmaster he bought many moons ago and which he'd replaced with stainless alternatives. The ones he had were alloy with plenty of meat around the inner circle and I was able to turn one out to fit (pics attached).
I had a quick look on the internet and I can see that Chris Knight Motorcycles are selling a similar looking alloy clamp
https://chris-knight-mcs.co.uk/exhaust/ ... 50cc-twins
which seems to have plenty of meat around the inside. You'd have to take a chance though as they cost £70- and be very careful to take the minimum amount of material out from the inside to enable a fit over your exhaust pipe. Take care also when tightening the clamp, using only the minimum force required to clamp the pipe in place.
Photos: The clamp I got off John, Turning it on the lathe and Clamp as fitted.
Best of luck!

Re: 2 inch finned exhaust clamp
The 2"ones from Drags have less fins compared to a original one, apart from it being made in alloy.
The 1 3/4" ones from Drags are Triumph items with 21 fins seen here next to a 1 3/4" Ariel item.
The Ariel 1 3/4"clamp has 22 fins and fit on 350cc, twins and twin port 500cc.
and a -what I believe to be- a 2"clamp with 28 fins from a SQ4 MkI. Those from Conway are cast in bronze and are a lot of work to make, hence the cost.
