Taken Oran Park late sixty's i think, frame probably helped with handling quite a bit.

Norton featherbed ,,,modified at the rear,AMC box ....looks like Manx rear wheel ,front probably some sort of double TLS,forks ,short roadholders .When the all the Gold Stars and Inters were used up ,these guys moved onto Red Hunters ,buying up bikes for the motors and dumping the rest .....I called them the "blow a motor a day crowd"

The Corish Ariel and the Corish Vincent (also in a featherbed frame) were very well known bikes often ridden by Eric Debenham. (but the photo of the person in race leathers is not Debo) In fact Debo would run the 1000cc Vincent in the historic class then upgrade it, brakes etc, to compete in the open class. Photo is probably 70s, by the hair styles. Both bikes competed well into the 70s. I remember seeing a historic race at either Amaroo or Oran Park where the Art Senior Ariel ran in a field with the Corish Ariel and several Manx Nortons. None of the bikes could get near the Senior Ariel.
I have some Corish Ariel parts, including the master that his cams were ground from. Many of the Corish parts and bikes were initially combined with Vic Lyons parts (after the death of Keith) when Vic Lyons moved in with Corish’s widow, however after a partnership break up and an apprehended violence order being slapped on Lyons because he smacked one of Mrs Corish’s grandchildren, Corish’s widow sold off both Lyons and Corish’s Ariel parts and bikes. I am uncertain where the Corish Ariel ended up. There are many people like myself who would love to know where it is.

Hi all,
I raced against that bike and another that Kieth Corish built for his sons to race in the mid to late 80's. I think it was Tony Gill of Daytona fame on the Kooistra honda who also at that time raced the faster of the two bikes as well. I was racing a standard featherbed framed red hunter that went quite well in its own way. One day in the pits at Winton raceway Kieth came up to me and in the conversation we were having he asked what cam timing I had. I told him what it was and he just nodded and then the conversation turned to something else. later on as Kieth walked away he turned and casually said "your'e 5 degrees out on the exhaust" I was so surprised that I was that close I didn't think to ask him which way I was out by. My cam profile was patterned on Jap opening and closing and the blank was a Wade Cams big block Chevrolet with I think from memory about 55 degrees overlap and .04375 lift at the cam. A BSA B50 piston and Speedway Jawa valves in a cast iron head on Alcohol. I have a few pictures of the bike but I will have to learn how to post them. I eventually put the bike on the road and it was sold to someone in Cairns Queensland.

A correction on cam timing on my race cam. I checked my cam timing record and it was 95 degrees overlap not 55 degrees. This is the bike in its final form with road registration. It had lots of power and it did handle well. Regards Dennis

I would love some more info on your cam but as I am currently packing my computer for a move and will be off line for some time, I will raise that again when I am back on line.
The Corish cam that I have has a valve timing of 23 55 64 14 measured at .050 lift. The cam has an overlap of 37 degrees and is clearly advanced by about 5 degrees on a straight up timing and has a lobe separation angle of 110.5 degrees. That is the widest LSA of any of the hot cams that I have. Also most of the other Ariel tuners of the day ran slightly retarded timings. The exhaust centre line is 115 bdtc which is earlier than most of the other tuners cams. The timing that I have quoted is at .050” lift so is significantly more at running clearance.
I hope to be back on line before too long, however I cannot even get to talk to Telstra at the moment to cancel my current phone and internet service and arrange for a new one. I got referred to texting and they have done everything to avoid cancelling my current service so I will now be taking the matter up with the communications ombudsman. I would say the texts were from an overseas call centre.

it took me 12 months of returning Telstra demands to get my decd mothers phone account cancelled ....its quite impossible to get thru to them,as their only contact is sales ,and sales people are on comission and have no interest in doing anything else but selling.
