Re: Ancient Ariel sign
Deciding which materials to use. Square bar, flat bar, combination of both? You know how it goes, make one and then people with intimate knowledge come out of the woodwork to say how it should have been constructed. It looks like the horizontal support could be square bar and the scrolls are either flat bar or square bar. Does anyone recall seeing one in person or one like it?

Re: Ancient Ariel sign
I think it would have been the case that Ariel supplied the sign and the dealer then fabricated or bought in a bracket. That being the case you can't get it wrong.wade.edwards wrote:Deciding which materials to use. Square bar, flat bar, combination of both? Time for an update as the new sign hanger is finished and off to it's new home in Idaho to hang the ancient Ariel sign. The brown piece at the rear is a clamp that matches the I-beam the hanger will be clamped to, so no need to bore holes in structural steel ribs of the garage.

Thanks, Bob. Will post when installed. In case anyone is wondering, the hanger is made without welds as I tried to imagine how it would have been done 110 years ago. Perhaps it would have been assembled with rivers but I chose brass screws.

Hi Frank. Happy New Year.
My motorcycle crazy cousin is visiting from Liverpool this May. That could be a great time to visit on a couple of Ariel’s.
Congratulations on a successful build!

Yes Wade, that would be great if you come by and we have the room if you want to stay the night. Garage door comes next week but very much done now. Open area is for hay storage as this was the incentive for them to have the shop on their property.
