John, I might have misunderstood you - do you mean turning down the valve collars? To me valve caps are actually caps that go on top of the valve stem where the rocker arm presses down. Not used here, but otherwise quite common. When you mentioned valve caps I supposed you meant the top of the stem where the collets push against the valve stem.

If your mate has a Mill it should be easy enough to reduce the height of the guides in situ. The tops don't have to be domed but don't leave them flat to prevent oil pooling around the valve stems.Gui.dorey wrote:I know, I hate to take those guides out and back in again.
