Cyclone engine

Post by Cas.vanderwoude »

selling on behalf of an older friend who is not internet enabled:
1958 Cyclone engine - bottom end, barrels, transmission and a head.
Not sure if the head is correct - I think it might be off an A7 or something because the fins do not match.
I do not know what it might be worth but I do know it is not a common item.

My friend is decluttering to help pay some bills.
best to email me directly - cas.vanderwoude@gmail.com.

BSA barrels - look to be the very desirable (as long as not too far off standard bore size) thick flange later Rocket(etc) type. Also BSA rocker box, but I think that's a Huntmaster cylinder head.
A set of newly-rebored +20 thick flange barrels went for over £350 on ebay the other week....

Cas, it might be useful if you could put up the numbers from the gearbox, it could help people to work out what it's for.

Good idea Simon,
here s the serial number. I'm assuming "CR" is close ratio?

I think it would be safer to assume it's the remains of 'GB' , 'M' I think is December, 1957.

Thanks Roger,
doing a bit more digging and I agree. So the GB44 was the "standard" transmission for a range of heavyweight Ariels in the 1950's?

Hi
Sorry for the hijack, but can anyone tell me the significance of the 'FC' - I have a 58 GB44 similarly marked.
Regards Mick
