If the three Squariels for sale in the UK (see previous post) are a bit far away, there is a very nice Mark 2 for sale in Adelaide, Australia.
The bike has a long history in the Veteran and Vintage Motor Cycle Club of South Australia, and is said to be ex-SA-police. The present owner is getting older, and would like to find a new home for the outfit.
Brenton and I spent a pleasant morning going over the bike, draining stale petrol, and fitting a fresh battery. The bike had not run for a few years, but the motor has nice compression on each cylinder, started easily, and ran quietly. The bike is very presentable, and I would imagine it is ready for the road with just the usual fettling.
The sidecar is a replica Dusting (fiberglass body) on a Melbourne-made Goulding chassis. It has done zero miles, but is professionally painted, trimmed and fitted. The style of the the body is particularly pleasing.
A local sale would be nice, but shipping could be arranged at your cost.
More photos available - please ask any questions here.
Haggling starts at $A20,000.
Thanks
Leon

That would appear to be a Mk1, but it does indeed look very presentable.
cheers

Hi Simon,
I'll confess it's all a bit modern for me! The engine number is RD337, frame number SC354, gearbox number G106L50. Does this make sense?

Yep, it's a '51 Mk 1. (Numbers are both for this year)
I played second mechanic for Leon - who is donating his time to support the owner of this bike. You may not be aware that he does a fair bit of that around the club.
Started easily is an understatement. There was shellac where petrol used to be and it still started first kick! - then burbled away nicely.
The motor sounds quite new and has a cartridge filter (white, below the rag in the photo) - which is great news for the crankshaft. Oil pressure was good. Lots of beautifully hand made engine bolts. A little rust on the rims.
My guess is a 70's/80's full resto, last ridden about 20 years ago.
I would be happy to work with Leon to help a buyer with shipping. I have a bit of experience via importing Paul's '27 a couple of years ago and we have a shipping agent nearby.

Nicely trimmed sidecar might appeal to the other half?

Anyone? Yes I know Adelaide is far away, but we will help to get it to eastern states.

Oh dear, it's still there. Any takers before we advertise more widely? Will consider offers over $A15,000.
