Hello
I have the opportunity to aquire a Ariel 250cc twinport OVH motorcycle. It's a basket case and it's actually almost 2 bikes in parts, including some side valeve parts too. It's supposed to be a 1929 but it had been modified with a different foot operated gearbox long ago. It's now partly restored with a hand shifted gearbox. Before I buy it I need to know if I have the right parts so it's just not just a basket och mix and match parts.
I was trying to do a quick mockup to see what's missing and what doesen't fit. One problem is that te rear section of the frame does not fit the over the engine/gearbox plates. It's about 4mm diff and it looks like it's the gearbox housing that's to wide. Is there different widths depending on what year? Is the gearbox wrong for this bike? It's a Burman box and it does fit the mounting plates.
Well that's a first question. Many more will come I guess. Seem like it's a fairly unusual bike. Haven't seen many parts for them. I'm looking for a crankshaft so I can put one more engine together.
Thanks,
Magnus
