satchison I think that Nev's post above says the opposite of your assumption. That is if I have understood you correctly. I'm not familiar with these machines but I would expect that the banjo has to be sealed by a fibre washer both sides of it. The stud needs to be at right angles to the mating face on the case.

As the stud is screwed into the timing chest, the orifice turns with the stud. The banjo however has an annular groove for the full 360 degrees around the stud so it does not matter in which direction the orifice faces. The stud should be installed with just enough tension to prevent it from turning out when the acorn banjo nut is removed.
