Good start for sure..If the 28 head is prone to faults would the later head be better if one plans on riding the bike but keep the 28 head only because it is original?

Len Ore said that the 28 was his favourite Black Ariel. 28 was a big improvement on the 27 in terms of frame structure and also engine robustness. It was a one year because total loss oiling was going out of fashion and 29 saw the arrival of the new dry sump engine which lasted all the way to 1959.
With the 28 you need to make sure you know which way to screw the oiling regulator as it works in the opposite direction to the previous year.
