Hi all from a new member to the Ariel stable.I have a 1953 KHA 500 with the alloy barrel which is cracked.I have a cast iron barrel and was wondering if it was possible to fit this or is there any snags.

Re: Engine swaps
You certainly can fit an iron Barrel from 1954 on. Lew Wallwork had one aluminium sprayed and it was difficult to tell it wasn't alloy many years afterwards so that might be the way to go.

Re: Engine swaps
Some of the alloy heads are 5 bolt. You could leave one out or tap a thread in the fins or make new barrels from new patterns that allow an optional fifth stud boss. A cast iron barrel and alloy head make a fairly practical solution. The Velocette Venom settled on that combination. Nev
