MKII headers wanted
hi there, this is my first post after acquiring a "55 MKII with a "53 engine. I'm looking for a pair of short headers and wondered if anyone might have a pair or even one side? They do not have to be concourse but prefer a fairly presentable pair (mine are rusted).

Re: MKII headers wanted
hi Brenton,
I'm an Aussie living in Hawaii. This is my first Ariel although I have a nice(ish) collection of other brit bikes also including
'41 BSA WM20
'55 Royal Enfield
'65 BSA A65
'71 Commando
'61 Matchless G12CS
'64 Triumph Thunderbird
'69 BSA Victor
Luckily for me, Brit iron is very much under-valued here in the USA. I'd hate to be paying Aussie prices for these things...

Hi Cas, you have a Dutch name so your family went to Australia in the 50's? and could have started the name in a locality called "Het Woud".

Yes, you do have a good collection - and yes, prices are shocking.
I didn't realise there were Brit bikes in Hawaii.
I'm sure you'll enjoy the square four. Is it a runner?

We immigrated in the '60s. "het woud" means "the forest" and "vanderwoude" means "from the forest" - a common name in Holland.adrie.degraaff wrote:Hi Cas, you have a Dutch name so your family went to Australia in the 50's? and could have started the name in a locality called "Het Woud".

Re: MKII headers wanted
Hawaii is an unusual place - 8 islands (four main ones). I'm on the "Big Island" which is not the main tourist destination. I'm pretty sure I've found just about every Brit bike here. Its gonna need a big shipping container when I retire and return to the land of Oz. Besides the Brit stuff, I have a dozen or so nice vintage jap bikes and a BMW airhead.brenton.roy wrote:Yes, you do have a good collection - and yes, prices are shocking.

Its a runner Brenton but only just so. Bought it from a retired mechanic who had it sitting in his yard. Its all there, runs on 3 cylinders at best, but a jewel none-the-less. I'm thinking if I replace the ignition and rebuild the carb it should run ok? Any advice re electronic ignition?

Sorry, what's a header?
Secondly have you read all the warnings about running it without a strip first if it hasn't done much for a while?

Hi Roger, by header I mean exhaust pipe. I'm after the short ones.roger.fellows wrote:Sorry, what's a header?

PO did a full strip-down of the bottom end already. He's been riding it regularly and because it wet sumps, he drains the oil out between rides.
