Brenton, apart from a curtailed silencer and a nut (what's in a name...) all went very well isn't it?

Yes, extremely well Paul. The bike was really well set up
I replaced the main jet, one size larger - which cured the over heating. The nut and the tail pipe came off and I rescued the tail light as the bracket broke. The nipple on the front brake broke in a paddock. I had a spare clamp on nipple, so no problem.
The motor and gearbox were excellent and it handled really well.

The restorers of both bikes did a good job.

Thanks everyone. Yes, thanks Adrie, particularly the Model C. There was less oil escaping than the VH!
Body wise, we're really good, thanks Steve. We bought Airhawk seats. They're awesome.
Speaking of awesome, check these photo's.
We met the nicest people today - who fed us, made us feel really welcome and filled us with Ariel talk.
The pictured Model C may be the only other running one in here in Australia, which is pretty cool. It's owned by Barry Deeth, who is an Aus. Ariel legend and who has an early AKD V Twin, and one or two other early Ariels.

With the site down I couldn't post, but I did have a ride with all the other black Ariels and was treated so well it was embarrassing. I will write about this later.
The fun is over and tonight we're at Moree. This would make an interesting street view Adrie!
We are on the way home, taking a different route, through Bourke. Anything west of Bourke is considered 'outback' in Australia - hence the saying 'back of Bourke'.
The early part of the ride today was pretty difficult. The hills were very steep and a bit challenging for the gearbox. Simon had another flat on the VH. I should take more notice of patch instructions that say 'wait until the glue is dry, then..' We were pushed for time and had to push the bikes - with inevitable results. It got dark, we nearly hit a 'roo and semi trailers used their spotlights to figure out what we were (my flashing bicycle light..). Being blinded a 90kph isn't fun.
A long way to go tomorrow - we're aiming for Cobar, 600 km or so.
Simon replaced the rocker gaskets and has cured the oil leak. We're playing with the regulator on the way and more or less have lights on the VH now.
Speed is up a little; we're sitting on about 95 to 90kph on the flats.
