I am replacing the current main shaft fitted into the fly wheel ( gear side ) with a shaft in better condition (pictured, with hole in line with key way). Is the shaft pictured in the fly wheel, fitted in the correct position ?

Yes with keyway in line with crankpin. There 3 timing side shafts 1150-32, 1150-35, 1150-36, watch out for alignment of oil hole and keyway. There are several more earlier ones but these are the ones for 1932 on vertical singles.
