Hoping to buy a Leader in the near future. I will need to pick it up in my van but its a low roofline Trafic and realise that it would not go in with the screen still fitted.
So my question is how easy is it to remove the screen should I decide to buy it and transport it home. Its a new screen and I don't want to risk breaking it.

I've never had to remove one myself but I'd think it's nominally quite easy - 6 screws/nuts across the top of the' front shield' panel and the 2 nylon eye-bolts that attach to the tops of the supporting stays - if it's a new screen it should all be fairly recently put together and should have a very good chance of coming apart relatively easily!
Possibly more of an issue are the 2 tall stays - assuming you need to get them off as well - if they've been recently fitted they should (again) come off relatively easily.The 2 'fixing joints' (T2582) shouldn't be able to turn in the panel so the stay nuts should(!) unscrew to release the stays.
The point to be careful of might be not losing any of the short spacer-tubes that go in the screen rubber around 4 of the screen mounting screws to stop the screen being pinched too tightly (and possibly also keep an eye on the 2 rubber outer corner pieces just in case one is loose enough to fall out).

Thank you Simon. It was the pillars that concerned me most as the actual screen fixings look accessible just care needed not to lose any of the no doubt special washers and spacers. The diagram you pointed suggests that the pillars can be loosened from the top without trying to access from the bottom. I guess the current owner will have experience anyway as he has totally rebuilt the bike fairly recently. Fingers crossed that's how it will pan out should I decide to buy.

You could perhaps ask the owner to remove the screen prior to your trip home?

There is no need to completely remove the screws from the front panel, just release fully, if screws are taken out it is possible for the anti-crush spacers (T2586) to drop down onto the twin skinned panel, with the screws slackened & the nylon pillar fixings removed, use the palms of your hands knock the screen from side to side & it will wiggle it's way out of the rubber.
Undo the pillar nuts & jobs a good 'un (if the step studs do come undone, no worries they can be separated from the pillars off the machine & are easy to fit back in the panel with a box spanner/ socket)
Nip the screen screws up so as they can't vibrate out on the journey home

A point to remember is that the pillars are hollow so under no circumstances try to bend them

Thanks, I have asked the owner and he seems confident that we could easily remove the screen for transport if needed. Just hope its as good in the flesh as the advert suggests.
