1939 ish girder front brake

I have a 1939 ish front wheel but lacked the brake shoes for it. The brake plate is of the floating type. I recently found a pair of 7" steel brake shoes and one has the cutout for the speedo drive. All looks good but the flat on the shoes is too wide. It measures 19,5mm whereas the the cam is only 1/2" wide. Should I machine the shoes to fit the cam or find a different cam. See pictures.

As we discussed when we met in a tankstellar car park recently these are shoes from a W/NG.

That is absolutely true Roger. But according to the "red bible" page 230 I learnt that all W/NGs used the 6 1/2" frontbrake whereas my front wheel is of the 7" type laced into an original 20" rim. That made me wonder if my brake shoes are Ariel ones in steel because of the non symetrical side to the brake cam. Maybe there are wider cams?
Any other ideas welcome!

The brake plate looks like a 7" used 1938-40 with a speedo drive that does require a cut out in one of the shoes as yours. However the steel shoes I have ever seen have been for the W/NG 6.5" or the two strokes. Looking again at the shoes in the comfort of my study rather than in the 36 degree car park I can see that the fulcrum end is not in the style of the W/NG shoes and the wrong size anyway. I don't know what they are off of.
