Cost of magneto refurbishment

I have just had the bill for refurbishing the magneto on my '54 NH. I was quoted around £350 five months ago. Today I was told the mag is ready for collection. The final bill is £444!
The dreaded VAT is a massive chunk of that.
Th company is well known and located near Chesterfield. I know they will have done a good job, probably involving angels tears and powdered unicorn horn.
I hope it is worth it and will see me out

A lot depends on the Condition of the Magneto you give them, There Can't be a fixed Price, the Older this stuff gets. It's Increasingly harder to find anyone who will do them.. Nev

Just got one done here down under by Zorchys Magnetos.
Must say thanks to Swampy for his great work.
Rewind and full rebuild $730 AUD.

The time will come when nobody will do these.

$730 aud = £390 gbp.

Looks like £400 is the mark for a magneto rebuild.
